The Quilt of Valor

The Quilt of Valor is a Service Project the (5) Middle School Ministry students and Sam Ashford have been working on a project with Deb Aponte.

  • The Quilt of Valor is a Quilt Top that is in the design of (6) American Flags (each student cut, sewed and ironed) their flags.

  • Deb Aponte is blocking the flags into a Quilt top with red and white borders with a multi print patriot backing material.  Her goal is to finish the blocking by this Sunday to present in front of church their Quilt top.

  • We then send the Quilt top to a volunteer seamstress who will then quilt the top, batting and backing together, then they ship us the finished quilt!

  • The final Quilt will be presented by Carol Vavrin's son, Colonel John Vavrin of Ft. Bragg Army Base.  He is standing by with Chaplain Toney of the Womak Surgical Medical Center on the base where he will be presenting our QUILT to a wounded soldier from the war.
